HENRY PAPERS. Vol. I. Sermons of Philip Henry; 1691-1692. Autograph. First published 1830 as appendix to The Miscellaneous Works ...of Matthew Henry, the preacher's son, and reprinted separately as Christ All in All; or, what Christ is made to believers, 1863. The MS. is mentioned and the index (ff. 1b, 2b) printed in Diaries and Letters of Philip Henry... 1631-1696, edited by M. H. Lee, 1882, p. 731, at which time it was in the possession of the Rev. Samuel Savage Lewis, Fellow of Corpus Christi College, Cambridge, a descendant of Henry. On f. 1 is a note by Sarah Savage, Philip Henry's eldest daughter: 'What Christ is made of God to true Beleivers [sic], in forty real Benef[its]. Preached at his meeting place at Broad Oke in Flintshire by my Honored Father Mr Henry thus written with his own dear hand and left to mee S S. by his last will to the end I may learn Christ and love Christ, and live Christ, and be eternally happy with him Amen.' A note on the history of the MS. made in the 19th cent. by Peter Bunnell, a descendant of Sarah Savage, and formerly inserted in it, is now Add. MS. 45538, f. 149. Paper; ff. 339. Octavo. 1691-1692.
