ÆSOPIC FABLES, known as " Ysopet-Avionnet eighty-three fables in two parts, the first containing fifty-nine fables of the " Anonymus Neveleti " with five from other sources, the second containing eighteen fables of Avianus with one other by an unknown mediæval writer. In Latin elegiacs; each fable being followed by a version in French octosyllabics. Dedicated in a general, French octosyllabic, epilogue to Jeanne of Burgundy, Queen of Philip II. of France. Two or three leaves are lost at the beginning. For a fuller description, see the Cat. of Romances, vol. ii. p. 335. 'Vellum; ff. 139 (including 6 paper leaves prefixed, which contain a letter from Francis Douce, 1816). Written in France, xivth cent. Witli 83 miniatures drawn witli pen and ink, the backgrounds diapered and washed with very pale yellow. Small Quarto.
