RENTALS of manors in co. Kent belonging to the Twysden family, as follows:-
1. " A true coppye of a booke of receipte of all the rentes, fermes, and fee fermes perteynyng to the mannors of East Farleigh, Lynton, and East Peckham, late parcell of the possessyons of Sr. Thomas Wyatt, Knyght," made by Stephen Austen, his " deputie," in 4 Edw. VI. [1550-1]. f. 3.
2. " The receyte of the fermes and fee, fermes late apperteyning to the office of the Treasurye of Christechurche in Canterburye for the foresayd Thomas Wyatt, Knyght," for the year ending Michs, 4 Edw. VI. [1550]; also drawn up by Stephen Austen. f. 27.
3. " The receyte of the rents late perteynyng to the office of the master of the Anniversarie Churche of Christe in Canterburye called Anniversarie rent, yssuing out of landes lyeng in East Peckham for the foresayd Thomas Wyatt, Knyght, by the foresaid Stephen Austen "; 1550. f. 28.
4. Rental of Estniere Manor, in East Peckham, 1566 ; described on f. 29 as " The coppi of my cossin Whettnalls Rentall of Estmere," in the hand of Roger Twysden, as attested by his grandson Sir Roger Twysden, 2nd Bart. The manor of Estmere was acquired temp. Hen. VI. by Williain Whettenhall, whose descendant Henry Whettenhall subsequently sold it to Sir William Twysden, 5th Bart. (ob. 1751): cf. Hasted's History of Kent, ii. p. 277. f. 30.
5. Rental of Sore Manor in Wrotham. Preceded by Sir Roger Twysden's note, " Left by my grandfather, who should have bought it of - Culpeper, who sold it ritch (sic) Nicholas Millar about 1601." Sir. Thomas Culpeper alienated the manor " about the end of the reign of Qu. Elizabeth" to Nicholas Millar (op. cit. ii. p. 240). f. 37.
6. "Copia Rentalis Thome Walsingham, militis, maneriorum suorum de Westpeckham et Swanton in Com. Kancie." f. 45. Paper; ff. 54. Late xvith cent. Belonged to Sir Roger Twysden, 2nd Bart., the Antiquary, who has written several times in the volume " Left by my grandfather," that is, Roger Twysden, who married Anne, dau. of Sir Thomas Wyat (beheaded in 1553). The vellum covers (now the fly-leaves) are two leaves of a missal of the 14th cent. Folio.
