Exchequer to any person or persons on account of the Privy Purse, secret service, petitions, bounties or any summ or summs of money to any person or persons whatsoever without acconnt" from 25 March, 1721, to 25 March, 1725. Among the payments are:-(a) to Sir Richard Steele, " as of Royall Bonnty," £500. f. 6;-(b) to Dr. Tho. Renton " for making, known his art, skill and mystery in curing of ruptures, etc.," £5000. f. 6;-(c) and to Charles Maitland, surgeon, " for innoculating Prince Frederick for the small-pox," £1000. f. 7. There are also numerous payments for passage-money of ministers going to America and the West Indies. Paper ff. 20. Folio.
