FRAGMENTS Of old German documents, some of which have formerly been used as bindings or fly-leaves to other volumes. Among the Old High-German fragments are two leaves of verse, 13th cent. (ff. 2, 3), and fragments of two different MSS. of Das Alte Passional, 14th cent. (ff. 4-7). The Middle High-German MSS. include two leaves of verse, in quatrains, 15th cent. (ff. 9, 10), and some documents relating to trade-guilds, viz. guild-laws of masons and potters (' Ordung der Maurer und Hafner'), drawn up in 1467, with additions in 1500 (ff. 11-16); an agreement between guilds of bakers and butchers, in 1477 (ff. 17-20); guild-laws of saddlers, dated 1483 (ff. 21, 22); and an agreement between smiths and iron-plate beaters in 1497 (ff. 23, 24). The Low German MSS. include fragments of Saxon prayers and litanies, 15th cent. (ff. 37-40); a leaf of a glossary, 15th cent. (f. 41); and a transcript by G. E. Klemming of part of Staphorst's printed text of Namelos und Valentin, with corrections from the original MS. at Hamburg by Dr. Lappenberg, 19th cent. (ff. 43-48). There are also a few Flemish religious fragments, etc. Vellum and paper; ff 62. xiiith-xixth centt. Folio.
