Unless the contrary is stated, they are full anthems, with accompaniments for organ or pianoforte, and are in score. The names of the authors of the words in this volume are given in brackets. 1. passim. Hymns, in score, by Thomas Miles; 1806-1852. Autograph. Many of them do not follow strictly the usual form of the English hymn, the parts being sometimes written independently of each other, and occasionally even solo parts being introduced. Most of them are for 4 voices, and without accompaniment; but in many instances the bass-part has been figured. Those in this volume are taken from various collections, and are mostly undated and accompanied by pianoforte or organ.
