Lancaster], Anno Domini Mmo ccccmo xijmo, per uenerabilem patrem in Christo dominum Willemum de Daltonñ, Abbatem huius dicti Monasterii, digesti, Anno regiminis sui vijmo." Prefixed, f. 1 b, are these verses Nomine wlt dici pars ista secunda Registri Huius Cenobii nomine Furnesii, Cartas terrarum tenet in se quod variarum, Quas dederant proceres confirmauereque Reges Isti cenobio pietatis munere firmo. Fines et placita retinet quoque per loca mixta. Per tabulam cuncta reperire potes, siue cuncta Ordine scriptorum necnon numero foliorum. Willelmus Dalton Abbas hunc condere librum Fecit, eo cribrum sathane terat et petat altum. Sicque liber plenum finem sortitur amenum, Anno milleno, centum quater, et duodeno. Hunc John Stell digitis monachus scripsit sine penna Cuiusquam volueris; careat sine fine gehenna. Quisquis amore libros preciosos nescit habere, Illius a manibus hunc librum, Christe, tuere." Vellum; ff. 227. With illuminated initial letters, in many of which are introduced the arms of benefactors or portrait heads. In the initial of the Table is painted the figure of John Stell engaged in writing on a scroll the verse: "Stella, parens solis, John Stell rege, munere prosis"; and in the lower margin of f. 11b there is an outline drawing of the same, holding a scroll inscribed with the same words. On a fly-leaf at the end, f. 227, is a list of payments made from various places towards the moiety of a tenth granted by the province of York, 1478. "Bibliotheca Palmeriana, Londini, 1747," is written on a fly-leaf at the beginning; and on the cover is the book plate of Verney. Large Folio.
