- Title:
- A collection of solfeggi, keyboard solos, portions of oratorios, and the opening bars of a Stabat Mater
- Scope & Content:
-
ff. 2-29b. A work ['Lettioni per noteggiare a Voce Sola, con il Suo Basso continuo'] by Giuseppe Montuoli, copied at Naples in 1726 [from the work published at Lucca in 1702]; 1726.
ff. 30-33. Portions of several melodies, most of them with a bass for harpsichord, in score; 1st half of 18th cent. The last two are partly supplied with words, for a bass voice, beginning apparently 'Seppe lo Antonio' (f. 32), and 'D'ogni fedele il Core' (f. 32b), evidently intended to form part of an Oratorio, possibly 'Santo Antonio,' by Michele Falco, about 1730.
ff. 34-57b. 'Sonate d' Intavolatura,' written by Domenico Alberti, for Alessandro Scafa; 18th cent. They are twenty-one in number (the last imperfect at the end), and consist of single movements (Allegro, Andante, Gigue and Adagio, etc.). Included are three of the VIII Sonate per Cembalo, published as his own by Giuseppe Jozzi at Amsterdam [1761], and portions of five other of the so-called sonatas in that work. No. 6 is quoted in Grove's Dictionary as containing a specimen of the 'Alberti 'Bass.
f. 60b. Melody of the fifteen opening bars of a 'Stabat Mater,' in an Italian hand; 18th cent.
