For the history of the manor, see VCH, Surrey, III, p.156: from the late 15th century it was held successively by Humphrey de Bohun, Sir David Owen, who married the heiress of the Bohuns, and his descendants, who conveyed Wotton to George Evelyn, then of Long Ditton, in 1579.
