TOWNSHEND PAPERS. VOL. V. Correspondence and papers of Townshend, continuing the preceding, including a number of letters from Stephen Poyntz to Townshend’s under secretary George Tilson and one of 6 May 1730 from Townshend to George II; 1729-1730, n.d. Partly French. Partly drafts and copies. Contained a folder similar to the preceding, with several later inscriptions on the front cover. The main heading, in what may be a 19th century hand, reads, `Letters from Messrs Stanhope, Pointz [`King g …’, crossed through], Keen, &ca’. The number 10 in brackets appears twice, with the date 1729-1730, crossed out and with `[1728-30]’ added in a 20th cent. hand. Underneath are biographical notes about Stephen Poyntz signed by James Durham, F.S.A., and dated Raynham, January 1923.
