Vellum, small folio, ff. 111, written about 1400.
1. A treatise of simple medicines and their properties, in alphabetical order. fol. 3. It begins "Abies, fir tre is calida et sicca." It is incomplete, ending with the herb "Gazarus, " and was written by a person dwelling at Stevenhythe, now Stepney, in the reign of Edw. III. as appears from fol. 91. b.
2. "Alphabetum herbarum;" sive synonyma earum et facultates. Latine, Gallice et Anglice. fol. 92. Incip. "Aaron barba, Aaron Iarus, pes vituli." 3. "Interpretacio passionum translata de greco in latinum." fol. 98. Incip. "Alopicia i. nuda cutis per partem capitis." 4. Receipts for ointments, plasters, waters and other medicaments; with rules for the discerning of urines. Latin and English. fol. 99. b.
5. The fly leaves of the volume, four in number, contain fragments of a metrical version of the lives of Saints Sebastian, Wolstan, and Fabyan: the legend of the last commences thus "Seynt Fabyan by olde dawe goud man was y now, At Rome he ladde holy lyf and to alle goudnesse drow." The same version is to be found in Harl. Ms. 2277.
