The book begins, "Turpin, par la grace de Deux Archeweke de Reyns, cumpaynoun au fort Roy Charles, a Leobrand le Deen Dayse la chapele, etc. Pur ce ke vus me maandastes." It ends, "E sachet ke kaunke io ay dist est verite, kar a tesmoyne en tray Deux ke nous ad creyez." 14. A collection of words and phrases in French verse, with English glosses, written by Walter de Bibelesworthe, for the instruction of Lady Dionysia de Mounchensy, who died 32 Edw. I. fol. 297. The author explains the object of his work in the prologue, as follows, "Le trevtyz ke moun sire Gauter de Bibelesworthe fist a ma dame Dyonisie de Mounchensy pur aprise de langwage. Co est a sauer, du primer temps ke homme nestra, ouweke trestut le langgage pur sauer nurture en sa juuente. Pur trestut le Fraunceys de sa neyssaunce et de membres du cors, ouweke kaunike il apent de dens et de ores. Pus to le Frauncoys, com il en court en age, de husbonderie cum . pur arer, rebiner, waretter, semer, sarcher, syer, faucher, carier, batre, moudre, pestrer, breser, bracer, hautefeste arayer.
