Vellum, Svo., pp. 254, xii. Cent., formerly belonging to John Parker; articles 1, 2, 8-11, are in a later 1. A poem upon the Passion of Our Saviour, in the early French Language, in stanzas of four lines. p. 1. The beginning is wanting, but it ends thus, "Pur ceo, Sire, te pri pur mei ames aniis, Pur la mort seintime e peins ke suffris, Quant paserum per mort, nus gard des enmnis, E nits doint la ioic ke, est en paradis." 2. Short prayers and meditations in old French prose, said to be taken partly from St. Anselyn [Anselm]. p. 6.
3. "Le Manuel de Peche," usually ascribed to Robert Grosteste, Bishop of Lincoln. p. 11. The present copy does not include the whole of the poem, being deficient in about 700 lines .it the end, which are to be found in the Harl. Ms. 4657.
4. A discourse of the pains of Purgatory, in old French prose, upon the text "In omnibus operibus tuis memorare novissima, etc." with the title, "Ici comenee Romaunz estret hors de diuinite solom lordeynment des pliilosoplies." p. 169. Beginning, "A ses treschiers freres et soers en Deu, as totis iccas ke eeste compleisoun lirrount ou de autre lire orruiit, Saluz." End, "dunt peyne porra estre a pener saunz fin ceaus ke serront dampnez; de ceo nus defend Deu par sa pite. Amen." 5. A discourse on the passion of Our Lord; in old French. p. 184. Beginning, "En le noun del piere e du, fiz, e del seynt espirit ke me doynt poer sauer e sainte uolente uoil cscriure la passion Jhesu Crist." End, "Icest amour nous doynt cil ki la nous a prist par sa sloriouse passion, e pur la rnour de sey mesmes saunz fin. Amen." 6. A poem upon the love of God towards rnan; in old French. p. 195. Beginning, "Seynt Pol lui apostle dit, Si come nous trononis en son escrit, Il dit, sil ust chesqun bien, Si amour ne ust, ile serreit rien." End, "Mes par son sen ad tot erie, E tot sustint par sa bunte, Ke sa joye nous otrie Oue lui en pardurable uie." 7. Edmund Riche's Speculum Ecclesiæ, in old French, with the title, "Ceste soume est apelle Speculum ecclesie; ceo est a dire, Mirour de seinte eglyse, issint lapella Seynt Eaumund de Pounteny." p. 207. It is printed in Latin in the Bibliotheca Patrum, vol. xxv. p. 316.

9. A poem exhorting to obedience, apparently addressed to the monastic orders; in old Frenclh p. 247. Beginning, " Ky out ceste trinite Par li vendroit al vnite." End, "Issi est nel dotes mie Quider, el est graunt folie." 10. The Disputation between the body and the soul, in old French. p. 248. Beginning, "Si come ieo ieu en mon lit, Oy la voiz dun espirit Ky fuist dampe." End, "Que issi puissomps rechater Notz pecchez et la vie auer Pardurable. Amen." See Cott. Als. Titus A. xx. fol. 160. b.
