ff. 1r-125r: Prosper of Aquitaine, Expositio psalmorum. Commentary on Psalms 100-150. Incipit (f. 1r): 'Misericordiam et iudicium cantabo tibi domine. Psalmus iste de primo versu toto intellegendus est corpore & confitendumdeo. quoniam universae viae eius misericordia & veritas ut quae libet se nostris cogitationibus de rerum veritate ingerant causae'. Explicit (f. 125r): 'et quia sapere secundum carnem mors est omnis spiritus laudet dominum'. Colophon: 'in nomine christi explicit gloria deo'.
ff. 125r-126r: A religious form letter (see Polak 1994). Incipit (f. 125r): 'Quis navem dirigit si gubernator abscedat quis ab insidiis luporum custodiet oves si pastores cura non vigilet et quis denique latronibus obsistit et furibus si speculatorem in prospectu explorationis locatum ab intentione sollicitudinis amor quietis abducat'. Explicit (f. 126r: condicione servata ut in his quae vel dubia fuerint aut obscura id noverimus sequendum auod nec praeceptis evangelicis contrarium nec decretis sanctorum patrum inveniatur adversum'.
ff. 126r-129v: Sequence of questions and responses appended to a letter addressed to Rusticus of Narbonne (d. 461), and attributed to Leo the Great, pope (r. 440-461). See Patrologia Latina, vol. 54, cols 1203a-1209b. Incipit (f. 126r): 'Consulatis de presbyteris vel diaconis qui se eposcopos esse mentiti sunt & de his quos impsi clericos ordinarunt nulla ratio sinit ut inter episcopos habeantur qui nec a clericis sunt electi'. Explicit (f. 129v): 'si autem aut idola adoraverunt aut homicidiis vel fornicationibus contaminati sunt ad communionem eos nisi per paenitentiam publicum non oportet admitti'.
f. 129v: Various added notes and inscriptions, including a brief extract from a sermon by Bernard of Clairvaux (b. 1090, d. 1153). 'Quidni fidelissimum fieret gratissimumque commercium inter celum & terram inter Angelos & apostolos ut exhiberetur illis caro christi istis vinum celi essetque in terra spiritus caro in celis ac deinceps omnia omnibus communia in errenum' (see Patrologia Latina, vol. 183, cols 330d-331a).

Origin: Germany (Lorsch).
The Cistercian abbey of St Mary, Eberbach (today Erbach near Eltville, diocese of Mainz), 15th century (see Palmer 1998, p. 283): inscribed 'Z 209' (f. 1r); similar inscriptions consisting of a 'Z' followed by a number are found in a significant number of manuscripts in the Arundel collection from the Cistercian abbey of Eberbach and the Carthusian abbey of Mainz.
Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646), 2nd Earl of Arundel, 4th Earl of Surrey, and 1st Earl of Norfolk, art collector and politician: purchased in 1636 in Germany, with other manuscripts confiscated from religious houses during the Thirty Years' War.
Henry Howard (b. 1628, d. 1684), 6th Duke of Norfolk, presented to the Royal Society in 1667.
The Royal Society, London: its ink stamp, 'Soc. Reg. Lond/ ex dono HENR. HOWARD / Norfolciensis. (f. 1r); its book-plate with the pencil inscription: 'XIII.5.26' (inside upper cover); purchased by the British Museum from the Royal Society of London together with 549 other Arundel manuscripts in 1831.
