Foliation: ff. 275. Four blank, unfoliated, modern paper endleaves at the beginning and four at the end.
Note: the manuscript was digitised prior to rebinding. The images show the old modern paper endleaves (one at the beginning and two at the end).
Collation: i2 (ff. 1-2), ii-iv12 (ff. 3-38), v10 (ff. 39-48), vi-xiii12 (ff. 49-144), xiv4 (ff. 145-148), xv-xxiv12 (ff. 149-268), xxv8-1 (ff. 269-275; 8th leaf after f. 275 excised, probably blank).
Script: Gothic (Textura semi-quadrata).
Binding: British Library in-house. Re-bound 2014.

Provenance:
Taken to Padua in 1449: inscribed '1449 die 19 Novembris Dominus Johannes de Alemania conduxit Padue hunc librum' (f. 2v). (See Arundel MS 453, and also Arundel MS 433, Arundel MS 449, and Arundel MS 484). On the meaning of such inscriptions, see Gargan, 'L'enigmatico 'conduxit'', Quaderni per la storia dell'università di Padova, 16 (1983), 1-41, and Gargan, 'Nuovi codici 'condotti' a Padova', Quaderni per la storia dell'università di Padova, 22-23 (1989-90), 1-57.
Inscription, 1425: 'Mocccc xxv … ego Iohannes de Sabia recessi(?) nicosia et fui venetiis … domino Rafaele… (f. 275v).
Unidentified owners, 15th century (several dates, e.g. 1461, etc.): inscriptions (ff. 2, 2v, 275v), e.g. 'Digestum vetus mei Eustachij emptum a fratrum…' (f. 275v), and annotations throughout, including some in Hebrew(?) (f. 275v).
?Thomas Howard (b. 1585, d. 1646), 2nd earl of Arundel, 4th earl of Surrey, and 1st earl of Norfolk, art collector and politician.
Henry Howard (b. 1628, d. 1684), 6th duke of Norfolk, presented to the Royal Society in 1667.
The Royal Society, London (its ink stamp: 'Soc. Reg. Lond / ex dono HENR. HOWARD / Norfolciensis.') (f. 3).
Purchased by the British Museum from the Royal Society of London together with 549 other Arundel manuscripts in 1831.
