TORQUATO TASSO. Il Manso, overo de l'Amicitia, Dialogo. A copy corrected by the autbor, and presented by him to his friend Giovanni Battista Manso, Marquis of Villa, by whom it was given to the library of the monastery of S. Onofrio, at Rome, (where Tasso was buried,) as appears by the original letter of gift prefixed to the volume, dated 25 March, 1613, and sicned by Manso. This is followed by a Sonnet addressed to Tasso, " nato nella città di Salerno," by Oratio Quaranta. At the end of the Ms. is an attestation by a public notary, (whose testimony is corroborated by letters testimonial under the seal and signature of Ferrante Gonzaga, Prince of Molfetta, Count of Guastalla, and Grand Justiciary of Sicily, dated 8 March, 1618,) that the " Epistola Nuncupatoria," as well as the title, corrections, etc., were in the handwriting of Tasso. This Epistle, no doubt, was addressed by Tasso to Manso, and is not now in the volume. Folio. [12,046.]
