- Translations from Makassar and Bugis texts, into locally-tinged Malay, continued from Add. MS 12396.
- Scope & Content:
-
In Malay in Jawi script. Containing translations from Bugis diaries and from notes and letters written on diary pages which had originally been left blank. There are notes from diaries (presumably of the court of Bone) between AD 1759 and 1775, and notes about events in the years between AH 1219 and 1226 (AD 1804-1811), and between AD 1805 and 1807. The notes refer to a variety of items: meetings of high state officials and representatives of Sulawesi states; envoys of the Dutch authorities to the court of Bone (f.40r); ceremony of the investiture of the Arumpone (f.42v); dimensions of old palaces (f.49); on dreams (f.56r); on a visit of an honoured guest from Mecca who tellsh of the Wahhabite actions in Mecca and Medina (the demolition of venerated tombs, etc.) (f.58v).
A note in Crawfurd's hand at the front of the volume says 'Malay translations from the Bugis' to which a pencilled note adds 'made in 1814'.
