B. 'Sketch plan of a portion of the Demerara River showing the relative positions of Georgetown and the canals polder'; circa 1900. Scale [1:22550]. Scale bar of 1000 'Rhynland roods' (= 167mm). A wind-arrow shows that the map is oriented with South-East at the top. The plan is a cadastral survey of estates on the west bank of the Demerara opposite Georgetown extending south as far as an estate named 'Vive la force' situated between the river and the Hobaboe creek. Private estates are outlined in green, government lands in pink; there is a brief key on the left of the map. The rivers and canals are marked in blue and one road in yellow. Sixty-six estates are labelled in ink; nearly half have Dutch names, the remainder being English or French.
