Ink, with annotations in pencil which include the composer's instructions to the printer, and with the printer's markings added. With a printed copy of the words (f. 2). Published London: Novello, 1906. Add. 58059 is an autograph draft of this work. 300 x 240mm.
2. ff. 12-26v. 'Follow the colours', song with chorus for men's voices ad. lib. (words, William de Courcy Stretton); [1908]. Published London: Novello, 1908. With a note from the composer giving directions to the printer (f. 12), and a copy of the printed vocal score published London: Novello, 1914. 330 x 240mm.
3. ff. 27-35. 'Go song of mine', part song for SAATTB (words, G. Cavalcanti, translated D. G. Rossetti), with piano accompaniment for rehearsal only, op. 57; dated 'Careggi, 1909' (f. 27). Black ink, with annotations in red, with a separate copy of the words in Elgar's hand (f. 35). Published London: Novello, 1909. 320 x 230mm.; 225 x 295mm.
4. ff. 36-37. Single and double chants; n.d. Written in close score on one leaf of a bifolium of Italian paper. Comprising: (a) Single and double chants for Morning Prayer, published as nos. 155, 156 and 167, 168 in The New Cathedral Psalter (London: Novello, 1909); (b) Modulating chant sequence combining single and double chants, headed by Elgar 'form (I think) invented by E.E.'. 240 x 310mm.
5. ff. 38-45. 'Fear not, O land', anthem for SATB and organ (words from the Book of Joel); 1914. With pencil annotations, partly autograph, and printer's markings. Published London: Novello, 1914. 410 x 265mm.
