- ff. 1-274: Continuation of the journal of the House of Commons compiled and partly written by Sir Simonds D’Ewes. Some of this has been written on scrap paper, including printed sheets. 13 February 1643 [1644]-3 November 1645.
- ff. 275-275v: Ordinance of Parliament confirming the leaves made bona fide, and upon valuable consideration received, by Dr William Juxon, late Bishop of London.
- ff. 276-278v: A report from the committee for Mr Smart's petition.
- ff. 279-280v: Draught of a speech by Sir Simonds D'Ewes to be made in Parliament, in favour of abolishing the tax called ‘Ship-Monie’.
- f. 281: A seemingly unrelated page of writing, which has been cut in half.
- f. 281v: Part of a table of names.
- ff. 282-285: Transcription of an extemporaneous speech, spoken by Sir Simonds D'Ewes in the House of Commons, 3 January 1647 [1648], against deposing King Charles I.

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
