This manuscript contains an early 16th-century Catholic-Protestant disputation on the Transubstantiation.
Contents:
ff. 1r-29r: The Banckett of John the Reve, unto Piers Ploughman, Laurens Laborer, Thomlyn Tailyor, and Hobb of the Hille; the title page on f. 1r contains the year ‘1532’ (with the year ‘1544’ in faint ink written below it).
f. 29v: A short tract on the sacraments (‘What is a Sacrament’), imperfect.
The manuscript’s original parchment flyleaves have been rebound at the end of the manuscript. These leaves contain the following texts:
ff. 30v-31r; 32v-33r; 34r; 35v-36r: 15th-century accounts from England in Latin and English; the date 1432 written on the reverse of a leaf that has been folded and is now ff. 30-31; the date 1454 on f. 37r; and a reference to the feast of the Purification in the year 1450 in the accounts on f. 37v.
f. 34v: A draft of an agreement between 'Johan Robynson' and churchwardens, added in the 16th century.
f. 35r: Latin prayers for a pregnant woman, invoking the Virgin Mary’s pregnancy and Jonah in the whale; followed by a Latin charm entitled ‘ffor women laboryng of child[...]’, added in the late 15th or early 16th century.

Foliation: ff. 38 (+ 2 unfoliated modern paper flyleaves at the beginnning + 3 at the end); 2 unfoliated paper leaves between f. 29 and f. 30 (ff. [29a]-[29b]); f. 34 is a parchment fold-out; f. 36 is a parchment stub; a paper label with the printed number ‘207’ pasted on f. 32r; all leaves have been mounted on paper guards.

‘Francis Browne’, owned in the 16th century: his name inscribed on f. 36v.
William Crashaw (b. 1572, d. 1625/1626), Church of England clergyman and religious controversialist: his name inscribed on f. 32r (‘To Mr Crashaw’); acquired from his library by Sir Simonds D’Ewes.
Sir Simonds d'Ewes (b. 1602, d. 1650), 1st Baronet, diarist, antiquary, and friend of Sir Robert Cotton: acquired from William Crashaw in 1626
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
