ff. 1r-50r: Wyllyam Reed, The Governance and Goode Kepynge of Hawkes, beginning ‘To the Right wurschipfull Sir John pollarde knyght I comende this symple volume’.
ff. 51r-54v: Wyllyam Reed, Dyvers Medysyns for Fantasy and by Hersay and not by Experyence, beginning ‘I have wryttyn herebefore yn this lytle book dyvers medysyns for sondry dyssesys, yet as other happythe to come yn my Remembraunce so I yntende to wrytte’.
The manuscript contains several additions in a 16th-century hand:
ff. 49r-49v: A ‘medicine and remedy for the mange in a dogge’.
ff. 55r-56v: Recipes for ‘A verey excedinge good Scouringe for a fawcon or fassell, or any kynde of longe winged hawke, used and aproved by Sir Robert lane knight’; 'To make a hedge, or to bredde Settes of hawes'; 'The best settyng and keping of artychockes'; 'A good medicine to take awey lyme from the fethers of a hawke'; 'A good Remedy for the pynnes in a hawkes fote'.

Provenance:
Edward Stillingfleet (b. 1635, d. 1699), bishop of Worcester and theologian: in 1707, Robert Harley bought Harley MSS 665-904; 939-951; and 964-1038 for £175 (see Wright, Fontes Harleiani (1972), p. 316).
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
