Folio manuscript volume which appears to be part of a larger work of Mr Jennyngs, extracted from the collections of Roger Dodsworth (1585-1654). Consists of notes on Yorkshire families, with some genealogical tables, entered in alphabetical order A-G. Some entries apart from name heading (for example, ff. 103-105).
Volume includes an apparently unrelated Latin encomium to Daniel King, engraver, by Samuel Rutter (ff. 101-102).
Note at front of volume recording the loan of three volumes of Antiquities of Yorkshire from Edward Stillingfleet, former owner of this volume, to N. Johnston.

- ff. 101-102: Latin hendecasyllabic poem of praise, addressed by Samuel Rutter (possibly Samuel Rutter, d. 1662, Bishop of Sodor and Man) to Daniel King, c 1616–c 1661, engraver. Undated, 1650s? The poem is unrelated to the remainder of the volume’s contents, or the any of the associated writers or owners, and is written on a bifolium of smaller size paper, with signs of former folds. Dedicatory address: ‘Ad Amicum meum Do[mi]num Danielem King Basilicis suis quod fælix faustumque sit’. Opening lines: ‘Haut frustra tibi nomen inditum, quj, / Quod Regum est, properas obire munus;’.

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
