Folio manuscript volume containing the proceedings against the Feoffees of Impropriations, also known as the Collectors of St Antholins in the Court of the Exchequer.
The Feoffees of Impropriations was an organisation of Puritans which raised money in order to purchase impropriations and advowsons, ensuring that Puritans were appointed to ecclesiastical positions. The group was closely associated with the church St Antholin, Budge Row in the City of London, and were sometimes known as The Collectors of St Antholins.
The members of the group named in this manuscript are: William Gouge; Richard Sibbes; Giles Offspring; John Davenport, Clerks; Sir Thomas Crewe Kt, His Majesties Sergeant at Law; Robert Eyer, an Apprentice at Law; John White, Utter Barrister at Law; Samuel Browne, Utter Barrister at Law; Nicholas Rainton, citizen and Alderman of London; John Gearing, Merchant; Richard Davies, Merchant; George Harwood, Merchant; Francis Bridges, Merchant; William Levans; Thomas Foyley; Walter Price.
The prosecutor was William Noy esquire, His Majesties Attorney General.

This manuscript previously belonged to Edward Stillingfleet.
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
