Decoration:
1 full-page miniature with full foliate borders, in colours and gold, inserted on a single leaf (f. 6v). Large decorated initials with full foliate borders, in colours and gold, at the beginning of the Psalms for the week days (at the beginning of Psalms 51 and 101 with three-sided borders), and at the beginning of an additional text 'Confitebor tibi domine' at the end (ff. 7r, 36r, 55r, 70r (with a three-sided border), 72r, 89r, 110r, 131v (with a three-sided border), 151r, 190r); 1 leaf with a large decorated initial and full foliate borders missing after f. 129r (beginning of Psalm 97). Smaller initials in gold on red and blue grounds, with partial foliate borders, for all the other Psalms. Small initials in gold with blue pen-flourishing or in blue with red pen-flourishing. Line fillers decorated in gold and blue. Capital letters at the beginning of the Psalms highlighted in red. - Collection Area:

Inscription, 15th? century: nearly effaced (f. 2r).
Inscribed number, 17th/18th? century: '68.A.12. / 1262 II/IA.' (f. 1r).
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d.1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
