Inventory of King Henry VIII
- Scope & Content:
-
Along with Harley MS 1419/2, this manuscript forms the second part of King Henry VIII's inventory; the first part is Society of Antiquaries MS 129 A and B. From the absence of signatures, it is clear that both volumes are fair copies. Instructions were given to draw up an inventory of Henry's moveable possessions six months after his death, and the process took eighteen months. These volumes detail the contents of each of his palaces and their specialist wardrobes.
