Heraldic manuscript volume in several hands, showing arms and pedigrees of old Shropshire families. Re-foliated. The letter from Richard Mundy to Randle Holme, 22 June 1638 (before original folio 78), referred to in the printed Catalogue of the Harleian Manuscripts in the British Museum (1808-12), cannot be traced.

ff. 6-7: Alphabetical name index to Shropshire person and families in the pedigrees, by Randle Holme II (c1601-1659). Heading ‘Shropshire Alphabett’.
ff. 8-129: Shropshire pedigrees and coats of arms, headed ‘Salope Visetation 1623’. Collection begun by Thomas Chaloner, with additions by Randle Holme II (c1601–1659), Randle Holme III (1627–1700), Richard Mundy and others. Information from A Catalogue of the Harleian Manuscripts in the British Museum (1808-12), vol. 2. This section of the volume includes:
- Various transcripts and extracts from family deeds (ff. 24, 63v, 67v, 60, 76, 100).
- ff. 125-126r: arms of (chiefly) Shropshire families, in trick and in blazon.
ff. 130-156: Pedigrees of Welsh families, perhaps with a Shropshire connection.
ff.157-174: Pedigrees and coats of arms from a visitation dated 33 Eliz. I (1590-1591). Imperfect manuscript (original foliation ff. 72-89). Pedigrees dashed through with a penstroke. Annotations by Randle Holme II, with references to entries in another unidentified volume (e.g. ff. 158, 158v, 160v, 161v).

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
