f. 1v: A pastedown includes an added inscription in Humphrey Wanley's hand, 'Hic codex olim fuit Aldi Manutij', and 'Andrea Haii Venetia 1722'.

ff. 67-276v: Virgil, Aeneis. Written by Johannes (formerly a Benedictine of Florence), in 1447: colophon, 'Liber XII et ultimus hic desinit per me Iohannem olim Benedicti de Florentia Anno Domini millesimo quadringentesimo quadragesimo septimo xvii Kalendas Iulii. Romae' (f. 276v).

A ruled leaf after f. 66r.Vertical catchwords.A small square piece of parchment has been cut from the lower margin of f. 277r and the entire leaf is discoloured and damaged, including the illuminated initial.

Aldus Manutius, Venetian printer (b. 1450, d. 1515): inscribed, in Humphrey Wanley's hand, 'Hic codex olim fuit Aldi Manutij' (pastedown on f. 1v).G[irolamo?] Baruffaldi (b. 1675, d. 1755) [of Ferrara?]: inscribed 'G[irolamo?] Baruffaldi' ( f. 1r).Andrew Hay (d. 1754?), dealer: sold to Harley on 13 July 1722, inscribed 'Andrea Haii Venetia 1722' (pastedown f. 1v).The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts, inscribed as usual by their librarian, Humfrey Wanley ‘13 die Julij, A.D. 1723' (f. 2r).Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
