Contents:
ff. 1r-427r: Bible (without the Psalms); certain sections divided according to letters from a-g and arabic figures written in the margin.
ff. 434r-469r: Interpretation of Hebrew Names, ending: 'Expliciunt interpretationes fac ad exemplanum domini .R. card.'
f. 469v: Erased texts, including (partially legible) a table with the months of the year in Latin, Hebrew and Greek.
The manuscript contains a few additions:
ff. 1r-2v: Lists of liturgical readings for feasts of the Temporale and Sanctorale, beginning with Advent; added in the (?) 13th or 14th century.
ff. 2v-3r: Texts on biblical interpretation, citing Gregory's Moralia in Job and Tichonius' seven rules for intrepreting figurative biblical language; added in the (?) 13th or 14th century.
ff. 427v-428v: Canon tables; added in the (?) 13th or 14th century.
ff. 429r-431r: A sermon attributed to Thomas of Aquino ('Sermo Sancti Thome de Aquino'); added in the (?) 13th or 14th century.
ff. 431r-433v: A vocabulary, entitled: 'vocabula secundum ordinem alphabeti'; added in the (?) 13th or 14th century.
Decoration:
Large puzzle initials in red and blue with pen-flourishing in the same colours. Smaller blue or red initials with pen-flourishing in the other colour. Running titles and chapter numbers in alternating red and blue. Capitals marked in red ink.

Dimensions: 190 x 140 mm (text space: 130 x 85 mm, in 2 columns).
Foliation: ff. 469 (+ 1 translucent paper flyleaf and 5 unfoliated paper flyleaves at the beginning + 5 unfoliated paper flyleaves and 1 translucent paper flyleaf at the end); ff. 1-4 were probably originally flyleaves; 1 unfoliated parchment stub before f. 1; between f. 3 and f. 4; and f. 449 and f. 450; 1 unfoliated paper pastedown on f. 471r (note of examination)
Collation: Indicated by catchwords. Each quire has been mounted seperately on to a paper guard.
Script: Gothic, written below the top line.
Binding: British Library in-house; rebound in 1976. Fragments of the former Harleian binding pasted on the insides of the upper and lower covers.

Provenance:
The Dominican Convent of S. Giovanni Without, Como, Lombardy: their 15th-century ownership inscription on f. 427r: 'Ista Biblia est conventui S. Johannis ex Conventu ordinis praed. fratri andree de Rezonica ?per fratrem Johannem de Merlo priorem dicti conventui et ?praes. de consilio commodate et libere usque ad mortem concessa ipse autem conventui legatus fecit ducatorum xx p. libris emendis' (see Wright, Fontes Harleiani (1972), p. 110).
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d.1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
