An Italian summary of the De temporibus of Matteo Palmieri

A summary in vernacular Italian of Matteo Palmieri's (b. 1406, d. 1475) De temporibus, a 15th-century compilation about the history of the world from the creation, of which only the portion starting from Christ's birth to 1448 was translated in this manuscript.
Contents:
ff. 1-42v: 'Summario de Cronicha de Matheo Palmerio Fiorentino cominciando dala anno de la nativita del nostro Signor miser Jesu Christo fino al anno 1448', begins 'Dal principio del mondo o vero da Adam...'. The first line of the work agrees with the Italian translation of this chronicle by Gabriello di Antonio Zachi, bishop of Osmo preserved in Biblioteca Ronciana di Prato, Cod. X as described in Cesare Guasti , 'I manoscritti italiani che si conservano nella Biblioteca Roncioniana di Prato', Il Propugnatore, 3.1 (1870), 412-26 (pp. 412-13).
Decoration:
Full architectural border in tinted washes of colour with a large gold initial on a blue and purple ground (f. 1r). Rubrics, marginal notes, and dates in Arabic numerals in red. Capitals marked in red.

Central Italy, perhaps Florence.
Provenance: The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
