ff. 8r-199v: Registrum Brevium for the reign of King Richard II, beginning with a table of contents (ff. 8r-9v), entitled: 'Calendar brevium realium'.
The manuscript contains various additions:
f. 1v: Memorandum of Robert de la Mare, Lord of Llangennith in the Gower, Swansea, South Wales, beginning: 'Memorandum quod Robertus de la Mare dominus de langegenyth in Gower habuit exitu[?m] William de la Mare'; added in the (?) 15th century.
f. 2r: A title inscription for the manuscript: 'Brevia realia et personalia'; added in the (?) 16th century.
f. 2r: Folio references to writs in the manuscript; added in the (?) 15th century.
ff. 3r-3v: A writ in Middle English against the disobeying of privy seals, 31 Henry VI (1453), imperfect at the end due to the loss of the next folio, beginning: 'ffor asmoche as þe soverayne lord afore this tyme uppon certeyne suggestions and complayntes made aswell to your highnesse as to the lords of your Counseill uppon dyvers persones of this your noble Realme for greate riottes extorcions oppressions and grevouse offenses by theym done ayenst your pease and lawes to dyvers of your liege people have yeven commaundementes aswell by your writtes under your grete seel as by your letters of prive seel'; added in the 15th century.
ff. 4r-7v: Folio references for various statutes, beginning with Magna Carta; added in the 15th century.
f. 200r: An indenture from the reign of Henry VI or Henry VII, beginning: 'Henricus dei gracia rex Anglie et Francie et dominus Hibernie'; referring to the abbot of Reading Abbey; added in the 15th century.
f. 201v: Draft for an indenture from the reign of Henry VI or VII with reference to the abbot of Tewkesbury Abbey; added in the 15th century.
f. 202v: Two royal letters, dated Westminster, 35 Henry VI (1456/7).
f. 203v: Legal note concerning John [? N]oeys, Justice of the Peace in Berkshire; added in the 15th or 16th century.

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724 ), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d.1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts forms one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
