Decoration:
The outer bifolio in each quire is made of parchment. Watermark of a pot surmounted by a cross (e.g, f. 68), very close to C. M. Briquet, Les Filigranes: Dictionnaire historique des marques du papier dès leur apparition vers 1282 jusqu'en 1600,A Facsimile of the 1907 edition with supplementary material, ed. by Allan Stevenson, 4 vols (Amsterdam: Paper Publications Society, 1968), no. 12481 (dated 1468 to Paris). Crowned fleur de lys with monogram 'J B' (f. [273] only) similar to Briquet no. 7251 (dated 1467 to Paris).
Full-page and half-page compartmental coloured drawings framed in gold of Creation scenes (ff. 1v, 2r). Numerous small coloured column drawings framed in pale yellow, 1-2 per page, of Old Testament scenes. Initial in colours with foliate decoration (f. 2r). Coloured initials in red. Capitals marked in red or yellow. Rubrics in red. Original foliation in red ink (Roman numerals).

Added unidentified arms in the lower margin, 16th century (f. 2r).
Erased inscription in the lower margin, post-medieval (f. 61).
Annotations added in ink on a few drawings, post-medieval (e.g., f. 190v).
Jean Oudot 'le jeune', printer at Troyes, early 17th century: inscription recording his sale on 6 April 1626 to Pierre II de Larivey 'A Pierre delarivey Troyen qui a achepté ce premier volume de la Bible de Jean Oudot le jeune imprimeur a Troyes La somme de sept livres dix solz, en une pistolle dor d'Espagne le 8 Avril 1626' (f. 2).

Matthew de Varenne, London bookseller and auctioneer (fl. 1723/4): his sale (through Nathaniel Noel), 21 December 1723, lot 230.
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts, inscribed as usual by their librarian, Humfrey Wanley ‘21 die Decembris, A.D. 1723’ (f. i). Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
