This manuscript contains the books of the Bible from Macabees to Revelation, in the later version of the Middle English translation produced by the followers of John Wycliffe (b. c. 1320s, d. 1384). Accompanying marginal glosses appear throughout the book, written in the same hand as the main text.
The manuscript was originally the third of three volumes. The first volume is now Royal MS 1 C IX, while the second volume, containing Psalms to Malachi, is lacking.

Decoration:
A partial border in colours and gold with foliate decoration and a large initial (f. 25r). Large puzzle initials in red and blue with red and sometimes purple pen-flourishing. Smaller blue initials with red pen-flourishing. Running titles and chapter numbers in red. Paraphs in red or blue.

Dimensions: 390 x 275 mm (written space: 310 x 180 mm) in 2 columns.
Foliation: ff. 1* + 117 (+ 2 unfoliated paper flyleaves at the beginning + at the end); f . 1* is a paper leaf; ff. 76 and 77 have been repaired with patches; f. 117 is a singleton that has been trimmed vertically.
Script: Gothic.
Binding: British Museum in-house. Rebound 7 April 1964. The covers of a previous tan binding with gold tooling are pasted inside the present ones. A fragment of the spine is pasted onto f. [i] recto.

Provenance:
The manuscript once formed a part of Royal MS 1 C IX: according to a note by Sir Frederick Madden (b. 1801, d. 1873), keeper of manuscripts at the British Museum (f. 1*r); see also Royal MS 1 C IX (f. [iii] recto).
Rob Kock: his name inscribed in a 17th-century hand (f. 1*r).
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
