ff. 3r-86v: Sextus Propertius [here referred to as ‘Aurelius Propertius Nauta’], Monobiblos; ending with the colophon: 'Hoc tibi sume pater transcriptum Paule volumen / Quod tibi perpetuum nostri fore pignus amoris / Obsecro materia quando sunt vatis erotes / [...] Amor amonia vincit . Petracha de Propertius / Dubium romanus an umber'.

The manuscript contains several later additions:

ff. 1r-2r: Latin poems, including a 6-line poem beginning: ‘Cynthia te vatem fecit lasciua Properti’; added in the (?) 16th century.

ff. 2v, 87r: A parchment leaf folded in half, now forming two flyleaves (one at the beginning and the other at the end of the manuscript) containing a charter concerning a church and monastery dedicated to St Alexander that is dated to 1485; with the notarial signature of ‘Johannes covus’ for ‘Leonardus Berardus’.

f. 86v: Additions to the Monobiblos, beginning: ' Umber erat: varieque minax et blandus amicae'; added in the 16th century.

ff. 87v-88v: Latin poems, a 14-line poem beginning: ‘Hec mea noster habe tecum precepta libelle’; added in the (?) 16th century.

? Various unknown 15th- or 16th-century owners: their names inscribed on f. 2r: [?] 'Comardus', 'Belea' [Greek and Roman letters] 'Iacobus'.

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.

Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
