[Fragment of Kıssa-yı Ebu Müslim]
- Scope & Content:
-
This volume contains a detached portion of the story of Ebu Müslim, a well-known romance, the hero of which is the celebrated general who seated the Abbasids on the throne and was put to death by Khālif Abū Manṣūr in 137 AH (755 CE).
The text is not divided into sections as in Or 1128. It is designated as the eighth tale, Kıssa-yı Ebu Müslim Cild-i Sekizinci, and is imperfect at both the beginning and the end. It commences abruptly with the encounter of Ṣāliḥ, while hunting in the company of Farāmurz, with a formidable Dīv called Lāk ibn Kanād. It ends with the reception, by Ebu Müslim, in Madinah, of the news of the death of Khālif Abū’l-ᶜAbbās (al-Saffāḥ). Its contents correspond with ff 112r-150v of Or 1128.
A very summary conclusion, occupying one page (f 118r) has been added by a somewhat later hand.
This manuscript is not dated but was likely copied in the 16th century CE.
