ff. 1r-7v: The Athenian calendar, imperfect; entitled: ‘An Atticll [sic: 'Attic'] Kalendar of their Yeare’; preceded by an introduction beginning: ‘The ancient yeare of the Athenians was Lunar, and by that they reckoned their feasts, which was made from replications of its monethly course every moneth they distributed into dayes, so making the whole year to consist of 360’. The Kalendar is written in Greek and English.
f. 8r: The Roman calendar, imperfect or unfinished; entitled: ‘A Roman Kalendar of their Yeare’; beginning: ‘The Romans used 3 sorts of years at severall times’.

[17], [19], [21] are unfoliated transparent plastic leaves serving as frames for fragments of the Athenian calendar; 1 unfoliated paper leaf between f. [17] and f. [19]; and f. [19] and f. [21].

Provenance:
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
