f. 1*verso: A table of contents, entitled: ‘Disceptationum Catalogus’.
f. 1r: A preface by Robert Glover (b. 1543/1544, d. 1588), Somerset Herald, dedicating his work to Robert Dudley (b. 1532, d. 1588), 1st Earl of Leicester, dated to 1581.
ff. 1v-6r: Antiquum ius regum Angliæ ad regnum et coronam Franciæ, ab hodiernis Francorum regibus eorumque prædecessoribus, iam diu usurpatis.
ff. 6v-11r: Francorum regum de Neapolitano regno adversus Arragonenses et Austriacos principes, gravis contentio.
ff. 11v-12v: De Danorum regno: Lotharingicis ducibus ex primogenituræ legibus, contra hodiernos reges id sibi vendicantibus.

Decoration:
1 full-page coat of arms in colours of the Kingdom of Naples (House of Trastámara) on f. 6v; and 1 of the Duchy of Nevers (House of Valois-Burgundy) on f. 20v. The arms of England on f. 1v; Denmark on f. 11v; and Milan on f. 15v have been cut out, and replaced with blank paper, causing loss of text on their versos. Family trees with names in green roundels and relationship lines in red ink (ff. 4v-6r, 8r-8v, 9v, 11r, 12v, 14v-15r, 17r, 19r, 19v, 23r). 1 large (8-line) initial [imitating printed initials] outlined in black ink in a black frame with foliate penwork decoration in black ink (f. 1r).

Binding: British Museum-in-house. Green morocco half leather binding with marbled paper and the Harleian armorial bookplate gold-stamped on the upper and lower covers; gilt fore-edge.

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
