Contents:
ff. 1r-160v: Pedigrees and arms of families in the county of Gloucestershire. Several pedigrees end with indications of the ages of family members in the year 1623.
The manuscript contains several additions:
f. 1*recto: A title inscription: ‘Glocester’; written in the 17th century.
ff. 2*recto-3*verso: An index of surnames included in the manuscript; written in the 17th century.
ff. 41r, . 42r: An elaborate pedigree of Roe drawn in red ink; made in the 17th century.
f. 53r and f. 54r: An elaborate unfinished pedigree drawn in red ink; ending with family members in 1693.
Decoration:
Coats of arms with crests, tricked, drawn in brown ink throughout the manuscript; some coats feature red paint (ff. 3v, 4r, 5v, 8v, 10r).

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
