ff. 2r-62r: Speculum Christiani. At the end the scribe writes 'Amen quod Rogerus' and directly after this in red, a rubricator writes 'Explicit liber de speculo christiani quod byrde' (f. 62r).
ff. 62v-64v: Oraciones de Saluatore Nostro.
Late 14th century Latin text on original flyleaf (f. 66r).
Added text, early 16th century: 'The artekyls of the fayth' (ff. 64v-66r).
Wylliam Sowlby, early 16th century: inscribed with his name (f. 67v).
Inscribed 17th century: 'A man of words and not of deeds is like a garden full of weeds; a man of deeds and not of words is like a prive full of turds' (f. 68r).
Decoration: 'Champ' initial in colours with foliate spray (f. 2r). Numerous decorated initials in blue with red pen-flourishing. Alternating red and blue paraph marks. Rubrics underlined in red. Spaces left blank for initials (ff. 62v-64v).

Sir Henry Spelman (b. 1563/4, d. 1641), historian and antiquary: inscribed with 'Speculum Christiani quod quidam Byrde aut condidit aut transcripsit vt patet in fine libri' (f. 1v) and his name (f. 2r).
The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts. Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
