The manuscript contains later additions:
f. 75v: Latin saying: 'Gutta cadit [sic: cavat] lapidem non vi sed sepe cadendo / Sic homo fit sapiens non vi sed sepe legendo'; added in the (?) 16th century.
f. 95v: French text on preambles, beginning: 'Test hors del preamble et body sans sence car le sence est le preamble'; added in the 16th century.

Foliation: ff. 1* + 110 (+ 3 unfoliated paper flyleaves at the beginning + 4 at the end); f. 1* is a paper leaf; 1 unfoliated blank paper leaf between f. 11 and f. 12, f. 17 and f. 18, f. 18 and f. 19, f. 65 and f. 66, f. 89 and f. 90; and 2 between f. 49 and f. 50, f. 70 and 71. Collation: Each quire has been mounted onto a paper guard.
Script: 16th-century script.
Binding: British Museum in-house; brown half leather with the Harleian arms gold stamped on the outside covers.

The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (b. 1661, d. 1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (b. 1689, d. 1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts.
Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (b. 1694, d. 1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (b. 1715, d. 1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 (a fraction of their contemporary value) under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
