Published engravings of a 4th century Virgil manuscript in the Vatican library (Cod. Vat. Lat. 3225;), by Pietro Santi Bartoli. Mounted onto large folios, with manuscript annotations showing the corresponding places in the Aeneid, said to be in the hand of Matthew Prior, esquire. The name of Matthew Prior does not appear in the manuscript.
Title page: ‘Iconicae Figurae quae in vetustissimo codice Virgiliano Bibliothecae Vaticanae annum supra millesimum scripto et depicto visuntur. Annexa sunt loca ex Virgilio Figuris congruentia, studio et cura Matthaei Prior Armig.’.
Engravings of illustrations in the Vatican manuscript (Vat. Cod. Lat. 3225) commissioned by Cardinal Massimi and engraved by Pietro Santi Bartoli (1635-1700). 56 plates were first published ca. 1677, and republished in various editions of Santi Bartoli's works in 1725, 1741 (with text by Bottari), and later.

- Custodial History:
- The Harley Collection, formed by Robert Harley (1661-1724), 1st earl of Oxford and Mortimer, politician, and Edward Harley (1689-1741), 2nd earl of Oxford and Mortimer, book collector and patron of the arts. Edward Harley bequeathed the library to his widow, Henrietta Cavendish, née Holles (1694-1755) during her lifetime and thereafter to their daughter, Margaret Cavendish Bentinck (1715-1785), duchess of Portland; the manuscripts were sold by the Countess and the Duchess in 1753 to the nation for £10,000 under the Act of Parliament that also established the British Museum; the Harley manuscripts form one of the foundation collections of the British Library.
