WARDROBE DAY-BOOK, 34 Edw. I. [1306]. Incomplete. Art. 1 consists of portions of a cancelled roll taken from the old cover. The date is shown by the itinerary to be the same year as that of art. 2.
1. Part of a diet-roll of the household, comprising eight weeks and two days from Easter [3 Apr.-30 May, 1306]. The roll only shows the daily expense of each department of the household and issues of wine and wax and the itinerary (Winchester to Westminster). f. 1.
2. "Jornale contrarotulatoris": the controller's day-book, 27 July- 8 Oct. and 23 Oct.-19 Nov. 34 Edw. I. [1306]. The gap of a fortnight is represented by three blank leaves. Besides itinerary the particulars show names of household officers receiving wages, expenses of messengers, alms, etc. f. 5. Vellum; ff. 12. 12¾ in. x 9 in. (ff. 1, 3, 4 are broader). Phillipps MS. 13969 (sale-cat. 1908, lot 251).
