LETTER-BOOK of [Henry] Brown [succ. as Viscount Montague 1708], Secretary of State to James II. at St. Germain, entitled (on the cover) "S[ecretary ?] Brown's Book of Letters received by him from September, 1690, to September, 1691." The letters, dated 11 Sept. 1690-28 Sept. 1691, are from Lord Melfort at Rome (some of which are also given in the latter's Letter-book above mentioned, Lansd. MS. 1163 C), Sir. Richard Bulstrode at Brussels, Capt. A. Knightley and Capt. A. Rutherford at Lille, Sir. William Jenner at Brest, and other Jacobite agents in France and the Netherlands. Some leaves seem to be missing at both ends. Paper; ff. i. + 290. Folio. Vellum binding with flap. Phillipps MS. 22411 (sale-cat. 1908, lot 510).
