BERRY PAPERS. Vol. II. (ff. 275). Correspondence of Mary Berry with (a) Agnes Berry, her sister; 1790-1816. Cf. note (f. 1) "These letters, selected from a hundred others, I cannot bring myself to destroy!" f. 1;-(b) Hon. Anne Seymour. Damer, the sculptor; 1792-1811. In two series, the first (f. 143) dealing with Mrs. Damer's experiences in Spain and Portugal, 1790-1791, the second (f. 194) relating "to the six happiest Months of my long and insignificant Existence" (note by Miss Berry, dated 1844, f. 192), sc. her engagement to General [Charles] O'Hara, afterwards Governor of Gibraltar. The General left England for Gibraltar in November, 1795, and the engagement was broken off in April, 1796. Several letters from O'Hara are included (ff. 224, 225, 229, 233, 238). At the end are a few letters "relative to a proposed Marrige (sic) of AD" [Anne Damer] in 1792.
