'The true Coppies of Substance of all such letters, warrants, licences, aunsweares of peticions, orders, and examinacions as haue bene written, graunted, made or taken by the Right Hoble Edward [Zouche], Lord Zouch, Lord Warden of the Cinque Ports, etc., and haue passed through my handes euer since the Sixe and twentith day of January, Ao Dni. 1618[9], which was the first day I came to serue my Lord as his Secretary [to 3 Dec. 1624]: Edw. Nicholas.' Mostly drafts in the hand of Sir E. Nicholas. Preceded (f. 5) by 'a copy of my lordes pattente of lo. Warden,' 20 July 1615. At the end (ff. 170-174) are accompts for sealing documents, 24 July, 1617-26 Jan. 1617/8.
