2. Thomas Mudge, jun., Count Brühl, Sir Joseph Banks, Sir George Shuckburgh, and Dr. Nevil Maskelyne, chiefly on the subject of the chronometers of Thomas Mudge, sen.; 10 Feb. 1792-4 June 1809. Included are (a) printed Objections to Mr. Mudge's Pretensions to a Reward from Parliament. By a Committee of the Board of Longitude, 1793 (f. 61), and (b) the draft, in Windham's hand, in the same year, of the Report of the Parliamentary Committee recommending the grant (f. 74). ff. 35-126.
3. Edmond Malone, chiefly on literary or private matters; 30 Oct. 1793-30 Jan. 1810. Included are references to the deaths of Queen Marie Antoinette (f. 128) and James Boswell (f. 130b); and letters and memorials from Richard Mountney Jephson, Judge- Advocate of Gibraltar (ff. 142, 161), and John Sweetland, Assistant Commissary-General at the same place (f. 148), forwarded by Malone to Windham. ff. 127-169, 186-189. At the end ff. 170- 185) are added a few letters from Malone after Windham's death to Heneage Legge and Thomas Amyot, 26 June, 1810-20 Feb. 1812, relating to his money-afrairs and the choice of George Ellis to write his life, etc.
