"ORDINARIUS PREMONSTRATENSIS": ritual of the Premonstratensian order, for mass and the office throughout the year, with musical notes. Wanting a leaf after f. 81, but agreeing otherwise with Add. 10008, ff. 1-65 b. Slightly different recensions, with a prologue, are in Add. 22599, 22600, and 22604, ff. 19-117 b, and in J. Le Paige, Bibliotheca Pramonstratensis Ordinis, 1633, pt. ii. pp. 892-921. Colophon: "Explicit ordinarius premonstratensis, ex vero originali ecclesie premonstratensis et aliis statutis patrum eiusdem ordinis capittulariter congregatis (sic) assuniptis, neenon veris aliis exemplaribus certitudinaliter prout nunc tenendus est magna diligencia conseriptus. Qui quidem ordinarius si discordare in certis locis ab antiquo repertus fuerit, sciat hoc humilis frater eiusdem ordinis sufficienti auctoritate et racione immutatum et sicut hie in isto continetur tenendum." One of the fly-leaves (f. 103) is a fragment of an 11th cent. copy of a Latin treatise on grammar. Paper (ff. 1, 103 vellum); ff. i. + 103. 5½ in. x 4 in. xv. cent. Bound in wooden boards covered with white vellum, stamped with a panel filled with lozenges containing fleurs-de-lys or four-petalled roses; brass clasp. Phillipps MS. 675 (Bale-cat. 1910, lot 678), from the Van Ess library (see above, Add. 38003).
