ITINERARIO ORIENTALE: an Italian translation of the Itinerario de las Missiones (in India, China, etc.) of Fr. Sebastian Manrique, a Portugtuese Augustinian, which was published at Rome in 1649 (another edition dated 1653 is really the same, with a different title-page). The translation, which is a rough copy, containing many corrections, is close, but on a revision the translator has marked several passages for excision. That the trainslator was not the author seems clear from several indications; e.g. on f. 146 b and elsewhere occurs a note "non li entendo bene." With this MS. is bound up (ff. 1-2 b) a short note in a different hand entitled "Itinerario orientale per la Persia et Turchia." Paper; ff. ii. + 166. Quarto. xvii. cent. Phillipps MS. 22995 (sale-cat. 1910, lot 785).
