OFFICIAL copies of State Papers, chiefly respecting negociations between England and Spain as to the rights of cutting Logwood and having settlements in the Bay of Honduras, and to the right of fishing off Newfoundland; 1672, 1703-1762. The major portion consists of correspondence of George Hervey, Earl of Bristol, when Ambassador at Madrid (1758-1761), with the Secretaries of State and others. At f. 29 and at ff. 213, 231, 239 are accounts of the conspiracies against King Joseph of Portugal in 1759, and the Czar Peter 111. of Russia in 1762. The inclusion (f. 87) of an original letter from the Conde de Fuentes, Spanish Ambassador to England, to Lord Bute, in 1761, suggests that this collection was made for the latter. Paper; ff. 277. Harrowby sale-cat. 1903, lot 51. Folio.
