the Established Church of Scotland (1843) and built on land granted by George, 4th Earl of Aberdeen, an opponent of the Disruption, a letter from whom is at f. 13. The volume contains MS. notes by Charles J. Guthrie, grand-nephew of Lord Aberdeen's agent, Charles Chalmers, and (inserted at f. 2b) a letter from him to Lady Frances Balfour, 23 Sept. 1914, presenting the pamphlet for her use when writing the chapter on the Disruption in her biography of Lord Aberdeen.
